SHIREEM - Corpus Christi, Texas. Shireem, sponsor of Shimmy By The Sea and Shimmy At Sea Belly Dance Cruise, has been teaching and performing since 1976. She and her daughter, Susan, direct the Mystic Dancers, Lotus Dancers and Pacific Islanders Polynesian show. This dance/drum group performed in China for the Euro/American festival in 2006. Vendors include: Babylon Breeze, Taryn Kennard Tribal, Mehara with Audrenas, Magical Fashions, Tatika's Treasures, Jeannette Cunningham,
Asheba's Phoenix Designs and others to be announced.

KAREN BARBEE ADKISSON - San Antonio, Texas..  Karen has been dancing for 30 years.  Yes, she started as a child.   She trained in Cairo, Egypt, with some of the most accomplished dancers in the world and has participated in major symposiums.  She has taught and performed in workshops, clubs, restaurants in  cities all over the U.S.  She also taught in the Caribbean and Brazel. . She performed in an international music video with Arab singer Ziad Ansari. The video became a hit in the Middle East . She will be teaching combinations on Friday.   Saturday,. she will be teaching a new choreography. No matter if you have been fortunate to have many classes with this awesome teacher or if this is your first time to experience classes with Karen, you will leave the class with new material, inspiration and respect for this teacher and our dance form.



Dilek

 is presently from San Diego California. She was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey.  After completing her degree in Istanbul, she came to the U.S at age 25 to attend graduate university.  She has trained with many well known dance instructors.  Growing up in Istanbul, Dilek was lucky to watch and study dancers  perform to complicated Turkish 9/8 rhythms and Oriental style Turkish dance.  I (Shireem) saw her in Hawaii for the 2007 Hawaii NATCMED Belly  Dance Competition.  (Mahmoud Reda) where she won first place.  She also won first place in 2007 at the Arabesque Belly Dance Competition veil category, second place soloist cabaret.  She placed 2nd in the Folkloric category at the 2007 International Belly Dance Convention in Las Vegas.  She was named 2nd runner up in 2007 as Zaghareet Best Kept Secret People's Choice.  She performs regularly at several restaurants in San Diego, has taught several workshops and teaches classes in San Diego.  Dilek, which means "wish" in Turkish, will be teaching  9/8 rhythms, steps, hand gestures, how to interpret the music, how to recognize the instruments used in Turkish style, why it is different, what makes Turkish style so lively, energetic but  also sensuous and romantic.  She will also teach gypsy skirt dancing, history of gypsies.  Bring zills, veil and skirt.

Viviane is a passionate multi award winning professional dancer and accomplished instructor.  She dedicates her life to pursue the traditional Egyptian belly dance style or "Raks Sharq", while incorporating Brazilian flavor, without distancing herself from the dance origins.  Her recent highlights are IBDC competition fusion champion, workshop and show in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Belly Dancer of the Universe Fusion Champion, Belly Dancer of the Universe Finalist- Egyptian Category, Belly dancer of the Universe congeniality award, Belly Dance O Rama DVD produced by IAMED, workshop in Santa Catarina Brazil.  Viviane will be teaching a challenging class with technique and combinations in the modern Egyptian style inspired by her Brazilian background, to spice up your dance and polish your moves.  Bring veil.
